Fort Lewis is home to many superb units. I Corps, and Madigan Army Medical Center, as well as three of the Army's Stryker Brigades, 3 rd Brigade, 4th Brigade, and the 5th Brigade, all of the 2nd Infantry Division. Other great units include the 4th Cavalry 6th Squadron, 42nd Military Police Brigade, 201st Military Intelligence Brigade, 6th Military Police Group (CID), 555th Combat Support Brigade (Manuever Enhancement), 62nd Medical Brigade, 142nd Signal Brigade, and 593rd Corps Support Group, all share Ft Lewis as their home.
Other I Corps Major Subordinate Commands, and resident, units, also, are located here. They include the Western Region Medical Command, Western Regional Veterinary Command, 1st Special Forces Group, 2nd Battalion 75th Rangers, 4th Brigade 91st Division (Training Support), Western Region USA Cadet Command, 1st Civil Affairs, 66th Aviation Brigade, 35th Engineer Brigade, 111th Air Defense Artillery, 311th Corps Support Command (FORWARD), 304th Corps Support Command (REAR), 3rd Ordinance Battalion (EOD), 64th Engineer Detachment, 110th Chemical Battalion, and the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Training Center.
To serve these units, and their Soldiers, Fort Lewis offers a number of first class facilities. The PX, and Commissary, are large, and well equipped, with expansions on North Fort to serve our growing population. We offer four state of the art gyms, numerous pool facilities, the Northwest Recreational Center, a Youth Center, numerous libraries, and a host of family support programs, to serve our Soldiers, and their families.
Fort Lewis is a wonderful place to serve, to live, and to raise a family. The merits, and services, that Fort Lewis offers is reflected by Fort Lewis being the station of choice for our Soldiers. This is proven by several years of reenlistments, for present duty station, despite our continued support to the Army in these trying times.

McChord Air Force Base (IATA: TCM, ICAO: KTCM) is a United States Air Force base in Pierce County, Washington, United States. It is located adjacent to Lakewood, about one mile south of Tacoma, and 40 miles south of Seattle. It was named in honor of Colonel William Caldwell McChord, former Chief of the Training and Operations Division in HQ Army Air Corps. Much of the base is a census-designated place (CDP), which had a population of 4,096 , at the 2000 census. Its primary mission is military airlift, and is assigned to Air Mobility Command.
The McChord Field Historic District was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 2008.
